Meet Ever Emma

Wednesday, May 25, 2016

One of my favorite parts about blogging is the community. Bloggers are all so supportive of each other, and it's so great to meet people you can connect with. I met Emma through Blog Boss Babe, a blogging community we both are part of. I think you will all love her blog! Learn more about Emma below!

1. What is your blog title and what do you post about?

My little slice of the web is Ever Emma. My goal is to only post those things that bring me joy or have improved my life in some way. I work in education and am passionate about literacy, so I have to restrain myself at times from focusing only on that!

2. When did you start your blog/what was the inspiration?

I'm going to give you a long, complicated answer, so hang on tight! My blog has morphed and grown with me over the years. I started it back in 2011 while working on my undergraduate degree. At the time I was trying to teach myself how to cook and thought this would be a great way to document and keep track of that journey. Turns out that even I found that to be incredibly boring, so I also ended up with a lot of posts that had nothing to do with anything at all. A lot of those posts have since been removed.

I quit blogging for about a year once my daughter was born, but I couldn't stay away! I came back and re-branded in late 2014. At that time, I had finally reached a point where I had made peace with myself and realized that it was time to live my truth and just be me. That realization was exciting to me and got my creative juices flowing again!

3. What post are you most proud of?

It actually took me a long time to learn to be proud of my space and to realize that I too had something to offer. I think the post that I am most proud of is, Figuring Out My Why. This post required some serious reflection and soul searching and it's the post that I read whenever I need motivation to keep blogging.

4. What's one thing your readers don't know about you?

Well, I recently shared 27 Tidbits About Me, so I feel like they already know a ton. I think a lot of people in my life, my readers included, probably don't fully realize how painfully shy I can be. I am definitely not a social butterfly and can come off as uninterested or snotty, but it's something I'm working on!

5. Where do you hope to see your blog go in the future?

If I'm being completely honest, I would love to crack the code and figure out how to successfully blog full-time. If that doesn't happen, no big deal. I have a day job and a plan for that as well.

It would honestly, just make me really happy to know that I've made a difference in someone's life. Even if that difference was someone reading I book I suggested over watching something on Netflix.

De-Stress Your Life: Have You Found What Works?

Thursday, May 19, 2016

OMG- I know it's Thursday, not Wednesday when I usually post, and I've already been called out on it. In my defense, this has been a crazy, unpredictable week, but nonetheless, here I am!

Like I said, this week has been crazy and unpredictable. Life has a way of having everything happen at once, and that's what is currently going down.

I've recently gotten a lot better at dealing with stressful, unpredictable situations. I still don't always handle situations 100 percent the way I want, but I'm getting there step by step with every stupid, annoying, and stressful situation I'm thrown into.

Everyone stresses. Here's how I deal when I have to "adult" my way out of a stressful situation, instead of crying and throwing a tantrum, which is what we all really want to do.

1. Identify Your Stress' Source
Recognizing what it is that is triggering your stress is the most important part. If you can recognize what it is that is stressing you out, why it's stressing you out, and the answers you need, or actions you have to do to relieve this stress, you are already half way there. Understanding what is stressing you out and how it is manifesting your life is the first step to finding balance.

2. Take A Deep Breath Before Every Decision You Make
Breathing! That's all you have to do! I really learned through my yoga classes how much of a difference taking a deep breath can make. Meditation is a great way to take a step back from your situation, reassess, and come back with a clear mind. Meditation is a great tool to counteract stress.

3. Eat Something You Love
I know many people say eating healthy is great for when you are stressed, and that is true, but I also have found its important for me to make my mind and taste buds happy every once and a while too! Let yourself indulge in that one snack you love when you're feeling stressed. My go-to stress food is gummy bears :)

4. Know What You Have Control Over
I've found I stress out the most when I don't have control over a situation. If I don't know what's going to happen, I become anxious and think of all the possible wrong outcomes that can happen. This is a waste of time and energy. If you can't control the situation, you simply can't control it. It's more important to accept this, and think positively, then dwell over what can go wrong.

5. Find What Works For You
None of these things may work for you. One might. Two might. They all might. Everyone feels stressed out from something different, and everyone deals with stress in a different way. However, it is important to remember that we ALL deal with stress. Being kind to one another is one tip we can all follow through no matter what you're going through.

What's stressing you out? How do you deal with stress? IDK-let's be friends because our lives our stressful and we can complain together.
